4 oz unfiltered apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
1 star anise
1 strip orange peel
soda water (if serving cold)

Warm cider with spices and orange peel in a saucepan (do not boil). Strain into a mug for hot. For cold, chill the spiced cider, then pour over ice and top with soda.
