A stirred cocktail featuring rye whiskey and the intensely bitter Italian amaro Fernet-Branca, balanced with a touch of maraschino.
2 oz rye whiskey
1/4 oz Fernet-Branca
1/4 oz simple syrup
1 dash Angostura bitters
orange twist (garnish)
ice
Combine rye, Fernet-Branca, simple syrup and bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until very well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist, expressing the oils over the drink.
